3D zombies are just plain fun. They are even more fun when you add them to your live-action movie, and get them to stagger through the apocalyptic streets, eating brains as they go.
Yes, they are ugly, mean, stupid, hungry, big, small, tall, strong, and mindless. And they are also part of modern pop culture today.
I just recently watched a George Romero zombie film called: “The Zombie Diaries.”
I really liked it. It was, in some ways, similar to the Night Of The Living Dead, from the 60ties, which was one of my favorite zombie cult films made by the same man.
But the Zombie Diaries was also modern in it's approach using the Blair Witch Project kind of documentary reality fiction style.
After watching it, I thought about what looks best. I think to use real people dressed like zombies is the way to go. It just seems more realistic. On the other hand, there is a fine line between looking real and looking fake when using actors. In the end the makeup effects have to be very good, which means even more skill and complexity is needed to do it right. But it is also possible to use 3D Zombies.
The ones I use from DAZ 3D are incredibly detailed and dynamic for the price. These scary creatures are frightening when animated and rendered. They are of the highest quality, to be sure, as the look very realistic when combined with live action footage.
They come in HD, which means high definition detail. What I do is I combine the Creature Creator set in order to expand the versatility of creating zombies.
This means I can add creature morphs and textures to the basic zombie shape and expand, and create completely unique zombie characters. This works well as the creature creator comes with its own original undead shapes and textures.
Using the creature creator set opens up many doors of possibilities. Combinations are easy to create. This is the true power of the Genesis 2 system. Shapes from any G2 figures can be combined and mixed together, resulting in endless unique versions of human and humanoid forms.
In terms of the creature creation pack, I can combine several different creatures into one hybrid zombie monster.
I can make, not only terrible and terrifying monsters, but aliens too, Exo characters, and evil wizards. How about making an alien zombie, or a goblin zombie, or a wizard zombie? Add scales or fur textures too. The possibilities are endless.
There are lots of similar assets at DAZ 3D. With just a few assets it is possible to create large scenes, or mobs of bloodthirsty monsters, and animating them to walk in hoards is easy too.
