Go Wireless With A Wi - Fi Security Camera

Did you know that a security camera can actually quadruple your chances of keeping your home safe? While security cameras in shopping malls, organizations and institutions have become a norm, not many of us think about installing these cameras in our homes.

So, what are we afraid of? Well, the most important issue here is maybe that we do not want to install a camera in our home. Not many of our neighbors have it, and many of us would think that it would be a bit weird to install a security camera in our home premises. However, a Wi-Fi security camera might be all you need. Yes, you do not need to be tangled in wires any longer. There are wireless cameras that work amazingly okay and can help you do more.

Let’s face it.

We are in an age where almost everything is going wireless. Security cameras are soon following suit and going wireless too. This simply means one need not worry and get hassled over the cables that would otherwise be running all over the place.

Wireless security cameras are the best available option in areas where setting cables can be difficult or expensive. Depending on the location and the area, the systems can be configured to cover certain distances. The wireless systems with Wi-Fi are best suited for parking lots, ranches, parks and recreation centres, oil and gas well sites, border controls etc. It can even be set up in your home.

What does it consist of?

The wireless Wi-Fi security cameras consist of a camera with a built in Wi-Fi and a router. The number of Wi-Fi antennas used varies depending on the distance to be covered. These wireless systems with Wi-Fi are responsible for transmitting encrypted and secure digital video and audio to the router using signals of high frequency. This system then uploads the video on demand as compared to the continuous streaming of data.

The downside of wireless systems is that the video quality is not all that great. However, with the Wi-Fi technology which has a better and a wider transmission range, the quality of the images is a lot better than analog wireless systems.

To cover longer distances, users will need to use more number of antennas. With a setup like this, one can configure a wireless system till up to a whopping 15 miles. One should know about the basics and the laws related to surveillance. Snooping over another’s privacy and property is considered illegal.

The one flaw with wireless devices is that there could be interruptions from other wireless devices which might mess up with the transmission. However, these can be taken care of by appropriately positioning the camera and other related devices.
