Amazon Services In Social Media Setting Business at Next Level

Amazon, the world’s largest American retailer entering into the social media via Twitter to sell product using social media. The idea is very clear and Amazon members would simply use their Amazon cart to save items by replying to any tweet containing an Amazon product link and simply writing the hashtag – to add their wished products to Amazon cart. As we know, Amazon has over one million followers on Twitter. This new way of shopping may entice the customers. EMarketer say retails ecommerce sales in the US are expected to jump 16% and increase business via social media.

We can see Amazon promoting video about this new feature on YouTube video and they are promoting with a Tag line – “Add it now and buy it later”. In this video Amazon emphasized the ease of remembering a product.

Why Twitter

One of the Amazon spokesperson said that Twitter provides a great environment for Amazon customers to discover new product recommendation from artist, experts, brand and friends. #AmazonCart was aimed to design to help customers to simply add wished products to their cart now without leaving the Twitter and come back later to shop and buy products on Amazon.

In this new system, Twitter won’t receive any direct revenue from #AmazonCart transaction and replying with #AmazonCart also doesn’t actually buy the product, and finalizing transactions will still have to be made via login on to the Amazon official website and authorize the purchase.

Amazon is not the first company that aimed to go on social media and promote its products. Chirpify a marketing and ecommerce company that deals with social media to activate instant marketing and ecommerce conversion. Chipify raised a series of funding in July 2013 for a social shopping services that allow social media users to trigger ‘action tag’ in their updates and buying the item. Facebook has also started Beacon, an online advertising but unfortunately it has failed due to huge privacy backlash and finally in 2009 Facebook removed Beacon.

Twitter may play a big role in online retail shopping and would start a new system to sell and promote products via social media users. If people like using hashtag, they could find themselves turning to Twitter (social media) as a shopping system. It could inspire businesses and product makers to sell their products on Amazon that will use Twitter. But Amazon yet did not specify that how many product makers signed for tweet up the product and get explored promote activity and sell their products via Amazon new feature.
