Why Wearable Technology Is Going To Change The World?

At a time technology has made bigger things turn smaller, comes a new invention, the invention of wearable technology. Unless you are really a tech savvy person or browse the internet daily, you might not have yet come across this term.

To put it simply, wearable technology refers to any electronic product that you can wear on your body. With gadgets becoming popular and a regular feature in everybody’s life, wearable technology is booming. While there isn’t an exact particular definition that you will find as wearable technology and its definition is constantly changing, it shouldn’t be an understatement to prophesize that wearable technology will soon change the way we live.

What’s so special?

Intel has been working on its chips to power up wearable devices. Nike created its own Fuel Brand wearable line. Google and Samsung have been focusing intensively on it as well.

The Google Glass

Call it futuristic, call it technology in the making or call it plain obtrusive – you really cannot ignore the presence of Google Glass. True, people are divisive over this piece of wearable technology, which allows users to wear a glass on their eyes and do a plethora of things, including playing games to taking pictures. Google Glass is the next virtualization device. While some might worry about their privacy, the usefulness of the device cannot be taken away. It can alert you as to when you need to wish your friend on your birthday or literally watch movies through your eyes!

The smart watches

Samsung has invested heavily on its own line of smart watches and why not? Smart watches are cool and trendy and sport a new way to carry time with you. They help you to check time, play games as well as make calls sometimes. However, most smart watches today are just an extension of your smart phone to enable you to carry out your daily tasks more efficiently. They aren’t bulky and some of them look real classy. In fact, you have the Android on your smart watches now too, with Google coming out with its own Android software for smart watches.

Apple is rumored to bring out its own line of wearable devices soon too. Nike is partnering up with Apple, and is investing hard on wearable technology.

How will the game be changed?

Google isn’t sure how users will use the Google Glass. Users need to determine how to use this piece of tech to their benefit themselves. Of course, there will be plenty of apps in Google glass for sure, when it launches properly. However, the benefit of wearable technology is a bit different. Wearable technology helps you to use technology in a new and easier way. For example, there could be a Bluetooth headset into a pair of earrings that has a microphone or a button camera that can be worn on your shirt. Athletes can wear a wearable device that can tell them useful information like fatigue level, the number of steps covered in a minute as well as speed; among others.

Remember, all of these are small pieces of tech that you can wear with you and use it in different and innovative ways to your advantage. It can be as cool as 007 James Bond stuff or as necessary as a smart watch. The truth is, wearable technology is here to stay, and you can figure out why easily. Today, there are millions of units of smart watches being sold each year. During the next few years, expect the sales to grow further, propelled by the demand of having something more useful and exciting.
